Barbara J. (Sluus) LaClair

Poestenkill - Barbara J. Sluus Groves LaClair, 85, died Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Elmer Sluus and Mary Lewis Sluus and wife of Richard P. LaClair. She had resided in Poestenkill for many years.

Barbara was a clerk for New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for 16 years retiring in 2002.

Survivors in addition to her husband include two sons,  Robert Scott (Mary Theresa) Groves, East Nassau and Darren W. (Kathleen) Groves, Averill Park; her step daughter,  Penny (James) Chenette, Schodack; her siblings, Albert J Sluus, Carol (Anthony) DiMaggio, Karen Williams, Dawne Webster and Debra Taylor; her grandchildren, Jessica and Riley Groves, Jon Malone, Christopher Chenette and Brandon and Bradley LaClair; her great grandchildren, Oakley LaClair and Jake and Nate Malone and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her stepson, Todd M. LaClair and her siblings, Roger J., Robert J.  and Dennis M. Sluus and Donna Garner.

Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home Inc.  4392NY150 West Sand Lake on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 4-6 PM with a memorial service following at 6PM with Rev. Trygve Tomlinson, officiating.
