Averill Park - With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Barbara E. Nold Bonesteel, age 72, of Averill Park, on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at St. Peter’s Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Troy, Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph C. Nold Sr. and Helen C. Liney Nold. A proud graduate of Sacred Heart School and Catholic Central High School Class of '72, Barbara dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker. She shared 40 years of loving companionship with her husband, David Bonesteel. Together, they created countless memories at Barbara’s beloved “Happy Place” in Wells, Maine, where everyone was always welcome.
Barbara found joy in the company of her senior friends. She was a dedicated member of the Wynantskill Seniors, enjoying bingo and her Monday meetings. An avid crocheter, Barbara lovingly crafted Afghans for her family, each one a special hug from heaven. She cherished holidays, preparing her favorite recipes like oyster dressing and baked macaroni and cheese. We will fondly remember her every time we see a parade, fireworks, or hummingbirds. Though grief fills our hearts today, we will one day smile again, cherishing the "good times." Forever loved and missed by her adoring family, Barbara is survived by her husband, David Bonesteel; children, Marjorie Pasinella (Dominic), Helen Driessen (Wesley), Erica Bonesteel, Angie Galea (Greg), and David Bonesteel (Kristin); grandchildren, Tyler Bulson (Amanda), Samantha and Halee Pasinella, Christopher Driessen, Quinn and Quade Seib, and Dylan Galea, and great-grandson, Max Bulson; her sister, Rita Reilly (Tim); her brother, Joseph Nold, Jr (Jessica) and long time friend Pat Burns, and her loyal dog Sadie.
Barbara was predeceased by her daughter, Leslie Ann Loiselle, and her brother, Charles Nold.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 28th, at 10 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Church, Brookside Ave, Wynantskill. Barbara will rest for eternity next to her precious angel, Leslie Ann. Because of Barbara’s love for children, In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 139 South Lake Ave, Albany NY 12208.
