Anthony "Lefty" J. Polaro Obituary

Colonie - Anthony J. “Lefty” Polaro, born February 15, 1934, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. He was the son of the late Anthony J. and Mary (Bernardi) Polaro.


Tony was the beloved husband of the late Joan (Camerota) Polaro. They were married on October 9, 1965, and shared 60 wonderful years together, building a life centered around love, family and tradition.


He is survived by his two sons, Anthony Polaro of Melbourne, Florida and Scott (Jennifer) Polaro of Poestenkill, NY . Tony was a proud and devoted grandfather to Gianna (Jerry), Bellazara, Angelina, and Anthony Polaro of Poestenkill and Mackenzie Polaro of Troy. His grandchildren meant more to him than life itself, and he was incredibly proud of each and every one of them.


Tony is also survived by a brother Richard (Sandy) Polaro and a sister Marion Coresi, along with many nieces and nephews, Tony was predeceased by His brothers Freddy and Joseph Polaro of Green Island.


Tony proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958.


Tony worked for Lydall Manning for 31 years and served as the union president. After retiring from Lydall Manning,Tony continued working for another 20 years at the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System in Albany.


Tony was known by everyone as a kind and gentle soul who always had a warm smile on his face. He cherished every minute spent with his grandchildren and loved cooking them Sunday dinner, creating memories that will forever be treasured.


In his free time, Tony enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Vonabon Club in Green Island. He also loved watching the NY Yankees and following horse racing.


Tony will be remembered for his kindness, his devotion to his family, and the happiness he brought to those around him.


The family would like to thank Dr Caulfield and all of the nurses and staff at Shaker Place nursing home for the exceptional care and compassion given to Tony during his time there.
