Bangor, ME - Anthony T. Fischetti, 45, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at his sister’s residence in Delmar, NY after a brief illness.
Born March 19, 1976 into “Troyalty,” Anthony was the son of Bernie T. Fischetti and the late Nina K. Eek Fischetti. He spent his childhood in North Greenbush, NY, and lived his younger years in New York City and San Francisco. After the big city life, Anthony retreated to the quiet of Bangor, Maine, where he enjoyed his final years. Survivors in addition to his father include his sister, Laura (Robert) Empie; his niece, Megan Empie and his nephew Jack Empie; his uncle Robert Blake and aunt Mary Kay; his cousins, Kim Blake, Tara Blake and Robert Blake Jr (Linda); the life partner of Nina Fischetti, Mark MacFarlane; his beloved dog, Teddy.
Anthony was a graduate of Columbia High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from SUNY Albany. Anthony was the Chief Operating Officer of Health Equity Alliance in Bangor, Maine for the past 4.5 years. He simply loved his work, providing help for people living with HIV and for those suffering from drug addiction. He also helped the housing insecure, offering food pantry services, which he regarded as one of his most important programs.
Anthony believed that “the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” He was a devoted volunteer for countless non-profit organizations, including, GLAAD, NY Cares, The Unity House of Troy and God’s Love We Deliver. Anthony was also a rescuer of elderly dogs and volunteered for Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, Mighty Mutts and Animal Haven. From the late, great “Papa” to his surviving Teddy, he was a fiercely loyal companion to his loving pets.
Anthony enjoyed simple pleasures, such as gardening on his patio and weekend drives up the coast of Maine. All he needed was a bed and breakfast, a fire place (or pool in the summer), a good book and his dog. Anthony had an infectious laugh and megawatt smile. He was a thoughtful listener and caring friend. He prided himself on his high energy, positive attitude and razor sharp wit, which helped him through the best and worst of times. Anthony was known for his impeccable style, luxurious eyelashes and his barely concealed eye roll. One could also count on his well-timed movie quotes to add levity to any conversation. He viewed his role in life through a JEDI lens: Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 3-5 PM.
