Wynantskill - Angelo Thomas DeGenero, 93, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Troy, Angelo was the son of the late Sergio DeGenero and Rosaria LaGrasta DeGenero. He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores Dobert DeGenero. Angelo was raised on Fourth Street in Troy and attended Troy High School, before proudly joining the United States Navy, serving in the Korean War. Angelo was a resident of Wynantskill for over 60 years.
Angelo was employed as the Produce Manager and store clerk for Price Chopper for 20 years, retiring 14 years ago. Prior to that, Angelo worked at the A&P supermarket in Wynantskill for 20 years.
Angelo loved spending time with his family. He shared a special bond with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed his bowling leagues at Hi-Way Recreation in Wynantskill, and more recently, at Hilltop Bowl in Speigletown. He was an avid golfer with family and friends at Burden Lake Country Club, and often looked forward to Tuesday night family scrambles there. Angelo enjoyed traveling to Florida and Las Vegas, and playing cribbage and cornhole with his grandchildren. He cherished his Wednesday family pizza nights, Sunday morning breakfasts, and special moments with his great-grandchildren. He created a strong family legacy that lives on in each of us.
Angelo is survived by his devoted children, Dolores (Brian) O'Connor, Maureen (Ted) DeConno, Jeanne (Patrick) Lance, Jacqueline (Jay) McBain and David (Maria Catalfamo) DeGenero; his grandchildren, Jaime (Kate), Jessie (Dan), Jeremy, Patrick, Katie (Andrew), Christopher, Kevin (Kylee), Teddy (Megan) Brian (Tori), and David; his great grandchildren, Olivia, Briella, Brooks, Remi, Rowan, Sam, Lilly, Madelyn, and Tyler. He was excitedly awaiting the arrival of his tenth great grandchild, Lena. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as his sister-in-law, Bette DeGenero. Angelo was predeceased by his siblings, Angeline and Anna DeGenero, Lucia Rizzo, Rosalyn Moss, Martha Kyme and Joseph, Carrado and Ignatius DeGenero.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling AvenueTroy on Thursday, April 3, 2025 rom 4-7PM.
Funeral service will be held Friday at 10AM at St. Michael the Archangel Church 175 Williams Road Troy with Rev. Edward Kacerguis.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
