Obituary

West Sand Lake - Althea E. Kampf  Hamilton, 83, died Monday, July 4, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Albany, she was daughter of the late J. Kenneth Kampf and Althea Florence Russell Kampf and devoted wife for 54 years of Edward A. Hamilton. She was raised in Albany and resided in West Sand Lake for 54 years.  A graduate of Albany Academy for Girls, she earned her Bachelor's Degree from Syracuse University and Master's from the STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK at Albany.

Althea was a computer programming teacher at Algonquin Middle School in Averill Park for 12 years, retiring 26 years ago and previously worked for the New York State Department of Health.  

Althea loved skiing, golf, gardening, swimming, cooking and playing guitar, but most of all spending time with her family. She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in West Sand Lake and had been head of the Vacation Bible School.    

Survivors in addition to her husband include a son, Edward G. (JoAnna) Hamilton; a daughter, Carol A. (George) Robinson; two grandchildren, Gregory Hamilton and Cassandra Robinson; a sister-in-law, Elle Kampf and two nephews,  James and Jeffrey Kampf. She was predeceased by her grandson, Johnathan Edward Hamilton and a brother, Jack Kampf.

Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc, 4392 Route 150, West Sand Lake on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 5-7 PM.  

Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11 AM at Salem United Methodist Church Shaver Road West Sand Lake with Rev. Dr. Patricia A. Bush, officiating.

Interment will be in  Elmwood Cemetery West Sand Lake.
