Poestenkill - Alice E. Sambrook Hackett, 84, died Thursday, October 6, 2022, at her residence after a brief illness.
Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Howard Sambrook and Evelyn Prout Sambrook and wife of the late Thomas ‘Terry’ Hackett, who just passed September 15. She was raised in Lansingburgh and Troy and resided in Wynantskill for the past 49 years and was a 1955 graduate of Lansingburgh High School.
Alice was a computer operator for Verizon for 40 years, retiring in 1997.
She was a member of Telephone Pioneers and enjoyed wintering with her husband for 20 years in Daytona Beach, FL.
Survivors include her daughters, Debbie (Stephen) Mohl, Wynantskill and Barbara Plekan, St. Croix, Virgin Islands; a stepdaughter, Lori (David) Whitkins, Brookfield, NH; a stepson, Thomas Hackett, East Wakefield, NH; two brothers, Walter (Judy) Sambrook, Rutland, VT and Howard (Mary Beth) Sambrook, Lake George; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Kelly) Mohl, Andrew Ayotte and Cassie Little, Angel Ashley, Garrick Whitkens, Thomas and Taylor Hackett; 3 great grandchildren, Kelsey, Brooke and Caden Mohl and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Robert Dempsey.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 4-7PM.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11AM at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Hayes, officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery Wynantskill.
