Troy - Albert D. “Butch” Thurber, 76, died Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Albert J. Thurber and Priscilla Wager Thurber and husband of Shirley Thurber. He was raised in Grafton and resided in Troy most of his life and attended Tamarac School.
Butch was a machinist and foreman for the former Weglarz in Cohoes and a shuttle bus driver for Mildred Elley.
He was a member of the Grafton Trail Riders and enjoyed fishing, boating and visiting beaches.
Survivors in addition to his wife include three daughters, Denise (Greg) Rockefeller, Cindy (Carey) Higgins and Cheryl Thurber; three grandchildren, Alexandria, Mackenzie and Gregory, Jr. (Brittney) Rockefeller; his special friend and sister-in-law, Helen and grandpup, Kinzley. He was predeceased by his son, Albert D. "Dougie" Thurber Jr. and his maternal grandparents, Helen and Harold Wager.
Funeral service private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.
