Wayne A. Nielsen

Stephentown - Wayne A. Nielsen, 60, of Staples Road died Thursday, February 22, 2018, at St. Peter's Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Raymond C. Nielsen, Sr. and Theresa A. Muscatello Nielsen and husband of the late Shirley A. Boyer Nielsen. He was raised in Troy, resided in Waterford for 15 years and in Stephentown for the past 18 years and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College. 

Wayne was a Manager at CMP Industries in Albany for the past 29 years and previously worked at Freihofer Baking Company.   

He loved golf and horse racing. Wayne was an outstanding athlete in high school and college, winning many awards. He was inducted into the Catholic Central High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2002.    

Survivors include a step son, Brian (Mariel Chu) McCoy, Albany; a granddaughter, Iris McCoy; his siblings, Christine A. Nielsen, Clinton, NY, Mark G. Nielsen, Saratoga Springs and Raymond C. Nielsen, Jr., Clifton Park and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was predeceased by a brother, John M. Nielsen.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 1 PM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Randall Patterson, officiating.

Interment will be in  St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
