Virginia 'Gina' Doherty Johnson, 97

East Greenbush - Virginia 'Gina' Doherty Johnson, 97, of Hawthorne Ridge Community Way died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at St. Peter's Hospice Inn, St. Peter's Hospital Albany after a brief illness.

Born in Peekskill, NY, she was daughter of the late Patrick Henry Doherty and Mary Gartland Doherty and wife of the late James W. Johnson. She had resided many years in New York City, Kinderhook and in East Greenbush for the past 30 years and was educated in New York City schools.

Gina was an advertising executive in New York City for many years.

She loved to travel, philanthropy and her social life at Hawthorne Ridge.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Priscilla (Leo) Doherty, East Greenbush and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Leo, Adrian, Paul, Vincent, Don, Quentin, Jerry, Jerome and Emmett and sister Marie.

Interment will be in Kinderhook Reformed Church Cemetery, Albany Avenue, Village of Kinderhook, NY. A graveside service will be at 2:30 on Monday, March 24, 2014. Friends and relatives are welcome to attend the service.
