Vincent J. Spataro, 81

Menands - Vincent J. Spataro, 81, of Brookside Avenue died suddenly Sunday, March 6, 2011, at his residence.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was son of the late Carlo Spataro and Rose Villa Spataro and husband of the late Lois N. Nevin Spataro. He was raised in Albany, resided in Menands for over 50 years and was a graduate of Albany High School and Cortland State Teachers College, earning his Bachelor's degree in 1953.

Vince was employed as a teacher for several area school districts including Kinderhook and Principal for many years at Mechanicville High School. Later he worked for NYS in Small Business Licensing.

He was a life member of the Watervliet Lodge of Elks, one of the founding members of the Albany Curling Club, he enjoyed acting and was a proud member of SAG and a character actor in his later years. He was a member of the Board of Elections in Menands and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include a sister, Pauline (Francis) Andriano, E. Greenbush; two brothers, Mario Spataro, Troy and Dr. Carlo (Sharon) Spataro, Muskegon, MI. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Philip Spataro.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Thursday from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 9:00 AM at the funeral home and at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Randall Patterson, Pastor.

Interment will be in Holy Sepluchre Cemetery Rensselaer.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Vincent J. Spataro to the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society 3 Oakland Avenue Menands, NY 12204.
