Vera A. (Hummell) Hosgood

East Greenbush - Vera A.  Hummel Hosgood, 89, formerly of Troy died Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush after a long illness.

Born in Mount Carmel, PA, she was daughter of the late Vernon and Florence (Metzger) Hummel and wife of the late Charles  Hosgood Sr. She had resided in Troy since 1952. 

Vera was a homemaker at heart and a beautician and owner of Vera's Beauty Salon in Troy for 25 years.

She was an active member of the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church community, always involved with many of the women’s groups and giving her time and cooking skills to many of the kitchen functions. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed crocheting and dedicated many hours to her beautiful flowers and garden.    

Survivors include her children, Charles (Myrna) Hosgood Jr., Saratoga Springs, Robert (Catherine) Hosgood, Clifton Park, William (Blanche) Hosgood, Troy, and Kristina  Hosgood, Watervliet; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her children, Raymond Hosgood  and Cheryl Rosamilia; her great granddaughter, Tessa Hosgood; and her brothers, Albert Hummel and Robert Metzger.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Sunday, August 02, 2015 from 3 - 6PM.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 10AM at the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church 520 Pawling Avenue Troy  with  Rev. Karyl Hopp, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in  Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.
