Utilia 'Tillie' DeBonis

Troy - Utilia 'Tillie' DeBonis, of Highland Avenue died Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at her residence.

Born in Cohoes, she was daughter of the late Mario Valentini and Annunziata (Testaguzza) Valentini and wife of the late Michael DeBonis.

She was raised in Cohoes and moved to Troy when she married her husband Michael.

Tillie operated DeBonis Grocery on Highland Avenue in Troy with her husband and brother-in-law for over 50 years.

She was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was a loving and devoted mother and always put others before herself.

Survivors include her children, Dr. James M. DeBonis of Troy, Mary Ellen (Louis) Pelus of Carmel, IN and Michael P. (Karen) DeBonis of Troy; her grandchildren, Michael G. Frazier of Los Angeles, CA, Christina E. Frazier of Camino, CA, Matthew A. DeBonis of Troy and Stephen J. DeBonis of Troy; one great grandchild, Raegen Lynn Frazier; a sister Theresa (Henry) Novak of Cohoes; a brother Abraham Valentini of Cohoes and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Deno, Mario, Alfred and George Valentini and a sister Anna Boggia.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 9AM at Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy and at 9:30AM from St. Francis de Sales Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 PM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
