Thelma E. (Carner) Cullen, 82

Poestenkill- Thelma E. (Carner) Cullen, 82, died Wednesday May 31,2006 at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Mildred (Link) Carner and the wife of the late William E. Cullen.

Born on August 23, 1923 in Troy, Thelma graduated from Lansingburgh High School in 1940 and Mildred Elley Secretarial School in 1941. After graduating, she worked at Cluett, Peabody and Company, Pollock Lumber Company, and The Singer Sewing Machine Company. She was active in the Octagon Painters, The Button Club and was a Girl Scout Leader, She also served on the Poestenkill Planning and Zoning Board in the 1970 s and early 1980 s and was a member of the Elmwood Cemetery Board in West Sand Lake.

Thelma is survived by her daughters; Sandra Nippes and her husband Raymond and Pandora Dickinson and her husband Richard. Grandsons include Leith Nippes, Jordan and Carner Dickinson. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Ann Carner Wheeler, a nephew, Charles Arthur Carner, his wife Cynthia and daughter Carner and a niece Jodi Carner Higgins, her husband Stephen and daughter Megan, and cousins Margaret DeLorme and Carol Bryan. A brother, Arthur Carner, predeceased her.

At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing. Calling hours will be Saturday from 10-11am, with the funeral service at 11am at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Michael Crandall, Chaplain of The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, officiating. Interment will be at the Elmwood Cemetery in West Sand Lake following the services.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Boulevard Rensselaer, NY 12144 or the Eddy Cohoes Rehabilitation Center 421 West Columbia Cohoes, NY 12047.
