Shirley Wood Salisbury , 70

Poestenkill Shirley Wood Salisbury , 70, died Sunday, February 13, 2005 at Albany Memorial Hospital in Albany after a brief illness.

Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Chauncey Campbell and Marion Wood and wife for 49 years of G. Robert Salisbury.

She was raised in Watervliet, resided in the Poestenkill area for many years and was a graduate of Watervliet schools and Catholic Central High School class of 1953.

Mrs. Salisbury was secretary to the Assistant Superintendent of the Averill Park School District for 20 years, retiring in 1990.

She was very active in Brunswick Church, serving as a Deacon for many years. She helped many people in her caring 'church lady' capacity, for, her church and her family were her life. She served on the Pastoral Care Team as the Needs Assessment Coordinator which provided ample opportunities to help the church extend God's love in practical ways.

Survivors in addition to her husband include a son, C. Robert Salisbury (Sharon) of West Sand Lake; her daughter, Lori Ruffinen (Ralph) of North Greenbush; a brother, Berton Wood (Judy) of Colonie; her grandchildren, Jason, Diana, Elizabeth, Jenna, Jakob and Robert and a nephew and niece, Billy and Allison Wood.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Brunswick Church 42 White Church Lane Brunswick with Rev. Kate Kotfila and Rev. Chris Garrison, Pastors, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the CHURCH on Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 AM prior to the service. Interment, in the spring, at Brookside Cemetery, behind the church, in Brunswick.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Shirley to the Brunswick Church Deacons Fund 42 White Church Lane Troy, NY 12180.
