Sarah Irene Brown Gordon, 72

West Sand Lake - Sarah I. Brown Gordon, 72, of Brookside Way died Tuesday, May 05, 2009, at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush after an extended illness.

Born in Shushan, NY, she was daughter of the late Arthur Brown and Selma Murray Brown and wife of George P. Gordon. She was raised in Troy and resided many places including Colonie and the past 4 years in West Sand Lake and was a graduate of Troy High School.

Mrs. Gordon worked as a seamstress at Cluett, Peabody & Company, as a cashier for White Eagle Bakery and sales person for Builders Square division of K-Mart, in addition to being a homemaker.

She enjoyed sewing, reading, family and her grandchildren.

Survivors in addition to her husband include her children, Robert A. Petersen of Troy, Scott J. Petersen of Troy, Cheri (Thomas) Asprion of Schaghticoke, Valari (Aaron) Dudla of Stillwater, Cassandra (Robert) Whitlock of Troy, David (Rose) Carhart Jr.,of Buffalo and Mark (LuAnn) Carhart of Rochester, her step children, George Gordon Jr. of New Paltz, James (Terry) Gordon of Troy, Charles (Barbara) Gordon of NJ, Christopher (Lisa) Gordon of NJ and Linda (Jeff) Birch of NJ; a brother, Robert (Gretl) Brown of Virginia; a sister, Helen Harrington of Vermont; and many grand children and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Stewart and Wilbur Brown.

Funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family.
