Samuel W. Simmons, 80 Wynantskill Samuel W. Simmons, 80, of Main Avenue, died suddenly Thursday at his residence. Born in Troy, he was son of the late Samuel G. and Mary D. Neason Simmons and husband of Elizabeth Hengsterman Simmons. He had resided in Wynantskill for 63 years and was educated at Troy Public School 1, Troy High School class of 1939 and Troy Business College. Mr. Simmons was a salesman for Regal Art Press in Troy for 39 years retiring in 1986. He was also former Comptroller for the Town of North Greenbush. He was a member of the Wynantskill Fire Company and Printing Industries of America; an avid golfer and an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include a son Wayne M. Simmons and wife Debra of Roswell, GA; two daughters Jean M. Simmons of Rensselaer and Louise A. Misasi and husband Steven of Granville, NY and 5 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Edmund Simmons. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00am at St. Jude the Apostle Church Brookside Avenue in Wynantskill by Rev. James E. Clark, Pastor. There will be no calling hours. Contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Simmons to the St. Jude the Apostle Church Building Fund Brookside Ave. Wynantskill, NY 12198 or the Wynantskill Fire Department Wynantskill NY 12198 or the American Diabetes Association 50 Colvin Avenue Albany, NY 12206.
