Samuel Henry Francis

Clifton Park -Samuel Henry Francis, 89, died at his home on September 28, 2015.  

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Kerwin) Francis.  Sam was a lifelong resident of Troy, born June 4, 1926, to the late Norman and Janet (Richardson) Francis.                                                  
He retired in 1979 from the State of New York Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer and worked previously for Bumstead Chevrolet in Troy for 15 years and in his family business, Moncrief and Francis Pharmacy.

Sam was a graduate of Troy High School and attended Albany College of Pharmacy, University of Mississippi, and Russell Sage College.  He enlisted in the Navy at 18 and served in Japan at the end of World War II.

An avid golfer, Sam enjoyed spending time with friends and family and loved his home city of Troy. He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia (Laws) Francis, and his sister, Marjorie (Francis) Roy.

In addition to his wife Kathryn, he is survived by his daughter, Dana, her husband, Jose Santacana, and their son, Samuel; 3 stepdaughters, Beth Reinhart, her husband, Kevin Flanders, Donna Tomlinson and her sons, Wesley and Christopher, and Ellen Schirmer, her husband, Jim, and children Meghan and Jack Roullier; and a nephew, Norman Bell and his wife, Lisa.  

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10AM at the funeral home with Rev. Gusti Linnea Newquist , officiating.

Interment will be in  Oakwood Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Samuel Francis to the The Community Hospice of Saratoga County 179 Lawrence Street Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
