Ruth A. Wiita, 79

Troy - Ruth A. Wiita, 79, of Central Avenue died Sunday, September 06, 2009, at her residence after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Michael McElligott and Mary Mullany McElligott and wife of the late Richard A. Wiita. She had resided in Troy all her life and was a graduate of Sacred Heart School, Catholic Central High School class of 1948 and Albany Business College.

Mrs. Wiita was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.

She was recently actively involved in the Wynantskill Seniors, East Side Seniors and was a member of the Board of AARP. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.

Survivors include a son, Timothy (Patricia) Wiita of Cincinnati, OH; a daughter, Tracy Wiita of Troy; two grandchildren, Eilzabeth and Caroline Wiita of Cincinnati, a brother, John (Jeanne) McElligott of Troy; a sister-in-law Rosemary McElligott of Columbus, OH and several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, James McElligott.

Funeral service Friday at 10:00 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy and at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Troy where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Thursday from 4-7.

Interment will be in Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville.
