Ruth Bishop Snyder, 92

Troy- Ruth Bishop Snyder, 92, formerly of Spring Avenue Extension, died Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Frank Bishop and Ella (DuBois) Bishop and wife of the late Donald Geer Snyder.

She had resided in Troy all her life and was a graduate of Russell Sage College class of 1934.

Mrs. Snyder was employed as a Senior Employment Consultant for the New York State Department of Labor for 15 years retiring in August of 1974. She worked in special services, consulting with the handicapped, the older worker, the woman returning to the labor market, the veteran and the school dropout.

She was a member of Christ Church United Methodist in Troy since 1965 and prior to that was a member of the former Trinity Methodist Church in Troy. She was a former Chairman of Board of Trustees of Christ Church United Methodist, past president of United Methodist Women, a soprano soloist in the choir of both churches, past chairperson of the Annual Bazaar and past president of Church Women United. Ruth was past president of Ilium Literary Club, a member of Troy Women's Club, a former Member of Musical Arts Club and a member of the Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary. Ruth traveled once every week in the summer for many years to Lake George to play bridge with her group of friends.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Lois E. Bishop of Troy; three nephews, Roger, Jeffrey and David Bishop and a special friend, Diane Brunelle of Rensselaer.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Christ Church United Methodist 35 State Street Troy with Rev. Nina Nichols, Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday from 4-7 PM.

Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.
