Averill Park - Rudolf Witkowski,78, died at Albany Medical Center on Thursday, April 1, 2010. Born November 28, 1931, in Ujazdow, Poland, Rudolf was raised in Posen, and later the family relocated to Varel, Germany.

He started his career as an apprentice, then journeyman tailor and in 1956 Rudolf was awarded the title of Master Tailor in Oldenburg.

Moving to the United States in 1958, the family located to Rensselaer County where Rudy, as he was called by his friends, spent 24 years as a tailor at Kelly Clothes in Troy.

Rudy, was a member of Loudonville Community Church, and was active in church musical ministries throughout his life. He sang tenor, and played the trombone in several local churches. Rudy especially enjoyed gardening, reading and doing daily crossword puzzles.

Rudy is survived by his loving wife, Rita, his three daughters, Tanja Butler of Beverly, Ma., Heidi Nelson of Sarasota, Fla., and Sonja Witkowski of Manchester, N.H. and two grandchildren, Tavo and Tristen.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Loudonville Community Church 374 Loudon Road, Loudonville.

A graveside service for family and close friends will be at Elmwood Hill Cemetery Belle Ave., Troy at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2010.
