Rose Avakian

Troy - Rose Avakian, of Tibbits Avenue passed away peacefully Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Eddy Heritage House Nursing Center.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Michael Avakian and Mary Jaffarian Avakian. She lived her whole life in her childhood home on Fifteenth Street in Troy and was a graduate of Troy High School and Troy Business College. 

Rose was employed as a cost accountant at the Watervliet Arsenal for over 30 years.  

She enjoyed traveling with her sister, Anne, to faraway lands.  They made numerous trips to Europe. She also enjoyed knitting, baking, cooking and spending time with her family.    

Survivors include her sister, Alyce Garabedian, Latham and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a sister, Anne Avakian and a brother, Ralph M. Avakian.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 4-7 PM. 

Funeral service will be held Monday, at 10 AM at Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church 255 Spring Avenue Troy with Rev. Fr. Bedros Shetilian, officiating.

Interment will be in  Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Rose Avakian to the Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church 255 Spring Avenue Troy, NY 12180.
