Robert F. Reid

June 21, 1962 ~ May 7, 2016 (age 53) 53 Years Old

Feura Bush - Robert F. Reid, 53, of Railroad Avenue died suddenly Saturday, May 7, 2016, at his residence.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Dr. John H. Reid and Kathleen E. ‘Kitty’ Kelly Reid. He was raised on Glass Lake in Averill Park, resided in Delmar for 13 years and in Feura Bush for the past 3 years.  Bob was a graduate of Averill Park High School, where he played football and wrestled, and was affectionately known as “Doc”.

Bob was a driver for United Parcel Service for 30 years, retiring in 2013.  He was also a shop steward for the Teamsters at UPS. 

One of Bob’s greatest joys was his service as a volunteer fireman at the Averill Park-Sand Lake Fire Company and in Delmar where he was also Assistant Fire Chief.

Survivors include his siblings,  Mary Ellen Wollner, South Lebanon, OH, John H. (Sandy) Reid, Valparaiso, IN, Dr. William M. (Kathleen) Reid, Salisbury, MD, Kathleen (William) Labbate, Lake Placid,
Paul E. (Rita) Reid, Niskayuna and Martin T. (Caitlin) Reid, West Sand Lake.  Bob is also survived by his nieces and nephews, who he took great joy and pride in: Meredith, Charisse, Alanna, Myles, James, Fiona, Christine, Megan, Chad and Grace and grand nephews, Silas and Amos.

Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 4-6 PM.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 AM at St. Henry's Church 39 Old Route 66 Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas F. Holmes, Pastor.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Robert F. Reid to the Hudson Mohawk Recovery Center, 1274 Fifth Avenue, Troy, NY 12180.
