Robert Groves, 73

The Villages, FL - Robert Groves, 73, of Pendleton Circle The Villages died Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at Arbor Village Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Wildwood, FL after a long illness.

Born in Washington, DC, he was son of the late Robert Groves and Mildred Ward Groves and husband of Christina Miller Groves. He had resided in Averill Park, Waterford and Queensbury before retiring to The Villages in Florida in 2003.

Bob was a foreman for Lydall, Inc. in Green Island for over 30 years, retiring 11 years ago.

He enjoyed his retirement and golfing at The Villages. Bob loved hunting, astronomy, fishing and motorcycles. He was a member of the Army National Guard for many years.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Robert Scott (Mary Theresa) Groves, Stephentown and Darren W. (Kathleen) Groves, Averill Park; a stepdaughter, Penny (James) Chenette, Schodack; six grandchildren, Jessica and Riley Groves, MA3 Jon Thomas Malone, Brandon and Bradley LaClair and Christopher Chenette; two sisters, Elsie Pritchard, Waterford and Gail Sullivan, Green Island and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a stepson,Todd LaClair.

Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150, West Sand Lake on Friday from 4-8 PM.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 9 AM at the funeral home and at 9:30 AM at St. Henry's Church Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John Provost, Pastor.

Interment will be in St. Henry's Cemetery Averill Park.
