Robert (Bob) James Childs, 75

East Schodack - Robert ( Bob) James Childs, 75, died February 21, 2010 at home with his beloved family around him.

Born in Springfield MA, he was son of the late Albert J. Childs and Dora (Raymond) Childs and husband for 30 years of Rosemary Spencer Childs. He lived in Vermont, Nassau, and East Schodack.

He served his country in the US Army. Bob worked 34years as an electrician for the Union Local #724 which is now Local #236. He was a member of the Minks Fire Department in Rensselaer.

Survivors include his a sister, Patricia Gunther of VT; his children, Raymond (Debbie) Childs of GA, Arthur Childs of FL, Peggy (Richard) Burnash of Rensselaer, Robert M. (Diana) Childs of East Nassau, Michael (Georgana) Childs of Schodack, Penny (Robert) Cunningham of Rensselaer; step-daughters, Sharon (Lawrence) Perez of East Schodack and Noreen (James) Morris of Nassau. He has 33 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sisters, Aline Messick and Evangeline Drof, a brother, Raymond Childs and a son, Robert J. Childs Jr.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 12 noon at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake with Rev. C. Joseph Ingraham, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10am -12 noon.

Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery East Schodack.

The family would like to thank the East Schodack Fire Department, Hoags Corners Ambulance and The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Robert J. Childs to the East Schodack Fire Department.
