Welcome to the memorial page for

Rev. C. Joseph Ingraham

January 21, 1932 ~ April 10, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

North Greenbush - On April 10, 2017 a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather,  the Reverend C. Joseph Ingraham, took his journey to his heavenly home.  He is a man that will be missed immensely.  He had a genuine love and kindness for anyone he came across and a hug that was infectious and full of warmth.   We are proud of the Pastor he was, and still continues to be through the people of his parishes.  The Holy Spirit spoke through him, which was evident through the many churches in which he was able to fill the pews week after week.  We will miss him with all of our heart, but know that he is in a place of love, kindness, warmth and peace.

The Reverend C. Joseph Ingraham,  affectionately called Pastor Joe,  was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on January 21, 1932 to Clarence Arthur Ingraham Jr. and Marguerite Ingraham O’Neil.   He lived in Poughkeepsie until he was 14, at which time he moved with his mother and step-father, Raymond O’Neil, to Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. This town and the people around it became and still are a very important part of our family.  Pastor Joe became very active in his years at Foxcroft Academy which lead him to The College of Emporia in Kansas.  There he met the love of his life and wife of 58 years, Mary Kurtz.  He knew at first sight that he loved Mary and on June 22, 1958 after his graduation from Drew Theological Seminary, they married.  This was not only the beginning of a couple’s life together but also the beginning of Pastor Joe’s  life long commitment to ministering, teaching, and counseling.  With a degree in Counseling Psychology, this man touched many lives both through his ministry and also through his work as a Psychology Professor in various Junior colleges.  His  life was dedicated to sharing the joy and comfort felt when God is brought into your life.  A message  he shared with open arms and love.

The Reverend C. Joseph Ingraham is survived by his wife, Mary, their 4 children Stephen and his wife Venessa, Joseph (Jay) and his wife Christine, Christa Shiffer, and Marilisa and her husband Jay Dowling, his step sister June Takacs, as well as his 10 grandchildren, Stephen  K. , Gregory , Jessica, Jason, Samantha, Daniel, Meghan, Anna, Abigail  and Katherine and 1 great grandson, Steven.

Our family would like to extend a special heartfelt thanks and deepest love and appreciation to the staff of Van Rensselaer Manor.  Their love and affection for our Dad and our family showed through the outstanding love and care that they gave.

We invite all family and friends to join us in celebrating the ministry and life of a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Visiting hours will be at Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Saturday, April 29th from 1-5PM.  A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 30th at 2:00PM at Grace United Methodist Church, 16 Hillcrest Drive in Ravena, NY.
