Rev. Andrew C. Russ

Stephentown - Rev. Andrew C. Russ, 62, of Presbyterian Hill Road Stephentown died Tuesday September 29, 2015, at  his residence after living gracefully with cancer for many years.

Born in Batavia, NY, he was son of the late Frank Russ and Elizabeth Nichols Russ and loving companion  of Rev. Susan H. Schultz. He was raised in East Greenbush and had resided in Stephentown for the past 10 years.  Andy was a graduate of Columbia High School, Hudson Valley Community College and earned his Bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at New Paltz and Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in New York. 

Andy was a Chaplain for The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County for 17 years (2015). Prior to that he was a community minister for the Focus Churches in Albany, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Watervliet, Associate Director of the Albany United Methodist Society, Assistant Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Schenectady, and Pastor of Salem United Methodist Church in West Sand Lake and Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church in Troy.  He was also part time pulpit supply at the Community Congregational Church in Rensselaer for several years. Rev. Andy was dedicated and devoted to his ministry in every capacity and was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

He enjoyed gardening, photography and music.    

Survivors in addition Susan include a daughter, Caitlin D. (Todd) Heim, Albany, a son, Daniel D. Russ, East Greenbush, his siblings, Kenneth (Susan) Russ, Albany, Constance Barna, Dryden, NY, Linda (David) Schroeder, Castleton, Nancy (K.D.) McKeon, Groton, NY, Rebecca Carolan, Worcester, MA and Robert Russ, Cossayuna Lake, NY; his granddaughter, Anabel Heim and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a son, Kyle D. Russ.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the celebration of Andy’s life at the Stephentown Federated Church  1513 Garfield Nassau Rd Stephentown on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at 1:30PM, with Rev. Robert F. Long, officiating.

Interment will be in  Garfield Cemetery Stephentown.
