Ralph W. Gundrum, 87

Averill Park Ralph W. Gundrum, 87, of Burden Lake Road, died Wednesday at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a brief illness.

Born in Averill Park, he was son of the late Montague and Anna Baker Gundrum and husband of Doris M. Devereaux Gundrum and the late Florence 'Betty' Bailey Gundrum . He was a life long resident of Averill Park and a graduate of Averill Park High School.

Mr. Gundrum was employed at the New York State Department of Labor retiring 20 years ago. Prior to that he worked for the Department of Transportation, Reehls Dairy, was a bus driver for the Averill Park School District and originally had an milk and ice delivery business.

He was a former member of the Farm Bureau, a Fire Warden for the Averill Park Fire Company and was a President of the Woodlawn Cemetery Association. He was a member of the Church of the Covenant in Averill Park. He had many hobbies including: reading, building, helping people and family activities. He loved also to mow.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three daughters, Patricia Allard (Gary) of Averill Park, Carol Bradt (George) of Rensselaer and Joan E. Hoenig (Joseph) of Saratoga; six grandchildren, Gary J. and Steven M. Allard, Carol J. LaMountain, Keith Bradt, Maria Mitchell and Laura Hoenig; 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Robert M. Gundrum Sr.

Funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:00pm from the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake with Rev. Robert Zitel, Pastor of the Church of the Covenant, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 3-6pm. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery in East Schodack.
