Raffaella Buonocore Knothe, 88

Troy - Raffaella Buonocore Knothe, 88, of Seventeenth Street Troy died Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at her residence after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Naples, Italy she was daughter of the late Eduardo and Elvira Mattiello Buonocore and wife of the late William Robertson Knothe. She came as a war bride in 1947 and became a United States Citizen in 1951. She was a graduate of the Institute of Froeblino, Naples, Italy with a degree in Early Childhood Education and Victor Emmanuel Institute, with a degree in Elementary Education.

The greatest happiness in Raffaella's life was spending time with her six children and their families. She enjoyed caring for her beautiful garden and painting. As an active member of St. Paul the Apostle Church and school, she participated in the many activities including Altar Rosary Society and the Women's Club. In recent years Raffaella found great comfort as a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church.

Survivors include her children,Frederick Knothe (Lisa), Stefano Buonocore Knothe, Mary Peper (Wayne), Kathryn Sheehan (Robert), William Knothe (Kathleen) and Deborah Clements,(David); her sisters, Rosa DeSimone and Adriana Casagrande; her grandchildren: Brian Knothe (Michelle), Scott Peper (Jessica), Craig Peper (Mary Vadnais), Carolyn Ausfeld (Corey) Matthew Jenks, Megan Peper, Jonathan Sheehan (Ariana Cohn), Christopher, Ryan and Andrew Clements, Allison, Tara and Garrett Knothe, Michael Knothe and her great grandchildren, Brian and Jaqueline Knothe, Kaylee and Chelsea Peper, Kendall Ausfeld and Ella Peper. She was also survived by her cousin Lucia Pomerantz, sister-in-law Jane Knothe Printsky and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Federico Buonocore.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 9:30 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy and at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Randall Patterson, Pastor.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4- 8PM .

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Raffaella"s memory may be made to Our Lady of Victory Church or the Rensselaer County Historical Society, Troy. Our family would like to express our thanks to Dr. William Caramore, Rensselaer County Hospice., and to the many friends who said prayers for her.
