Philip J. Natcharian, 83

Colonie - Philip J. Natcharian, 83, of Medielle Drive died Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Rosewood Gardens after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Nazaret P. Natcharian and Zarouhy Azadian Natcharian and husband of the late Sarah Soultanian Natcharian. He was raised inTroy and was a graduate of Troy Public School 14 and a 1947 graduate of Troy High School. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Siena College class of 1951.

Mr. Natcharian worked for the State of New York for over 40 years, most of his career was with the Department of Social Services where he retired as the Director of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse in 1991.

He was a lifelong active member of St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church in Watervliet, for many years a member of the Church Council and treasurer. Phil was a member of the Knights of Vartan and an avid woodworker, golfer and enjoyed traveling. He was very involved in the local community.

He is survived by his two sons, Matthew and wife Lisa Natcharian of Simsbury, CT and Michael Natcharian of Albany; three grandchildren, Christopher Avedis Natcharian, Ryan Aram Natcharian and William Raffi Natcharian; a sister, Alice Wildman of Loudonville; a sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sonia and Richard Matulewicz of R.I. and Haig Soultanian of Long Island; a niece, Janice Toomajian of Eagle Mills and many more loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Naomi Natcharian and two brothers-in-law, Archie Soultanian and Thomas Wildman.

Relatives and friends may call at St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church 100 Troy-Schenectady Road Watervliet on Friday from 4-7.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2PM at the CHURCH with Rev. Stepanos Doudoukjian, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.
