Patricia Doakmajian Obituary

Wynantskill - Patricia Ann Murphy Doakmajian, 79, died Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness surrounded by her family.

Born in Hoboken, NJ, she was daughter of the late Raymond J. Murphy and Mary Hamilton Murphy. She had resided in the Troy and Wynantskill areas all her life and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. At that time she met the love of her life George Doakmajian, they were married 58 years. She soon started her beautiful family who she loved more than anything in the world. She had three daughters and they were her life. She always said, once you have children you will understand, your heart will be walking outside of your body. That’s how she made her family feel.

Patricia, for many years, worked alongside her husband and daughters at the George Doakmajian Insurance Agency and Village Discount Liquor in Wynantskill.  She was always by George's side and her daughters and her grandchildren’s sides.  Pat always put her family first above anything else, she always brought her family together and did so right until her last breath. She loved cooking, travel, music and having her family close.

Survivors in addition to her husband include her three daughters, Michelle (Bruce) Fanning, Wynantskill, Kara (Hal) Allen, Saratoga Springs and Tricia (David) Freedman, Clifton Park; her grandchildren, Leigha (Tony) Scott, Kayla (Anthony) Testo, Tyler VanAuken, Austin and Isabella Fanning and  Ethan, Asher and Ari Urowsky; 4 great grandchildren; her very near and dear cousin Linda (Andy) Reed-Grobecker; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Florence and Richard Maloumian and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank all the wonderful, compassionate staff of the Samaritan Hospital and The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
