Brunswick Nicholas R. Knauer, 83, of Spring Avenue, died Sunday at Eden Park Health Care Center East Greenbush, after a long illness.
Born in Brunswick, he was son of the late Nicholas and Anna Heinike Knauer and husband of the late Marguerite Schillinger Knauer. He had resided in Brunswick all his life and attended Troy High School.
Mr. Knauer was a self employed farmer on Spring Avenue in Brunswick, he operated the family farm. He also was a brake lining machine operator for Bendix.
He was a member of Agway, the Agricultural Department, United Auto Workers and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy.
Survivors include his son, John M. Knauer of Wynantskill, a brother, Lawrence Knauer of Wynantskill; three sisters, Cecilia Allen of California, Theresa Cote of Wynantskill and Helen Willbrandt of Petersburg and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his step-daughter, Carol M. Schroeder; a brother, Henry Knauer and a sister Anna Mary Knauer.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 9:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy and at 9:30am from Sacred Heart Church in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9PM. Interment St. Jean's Cemetery in Troy.
