Nicholas Sebastian DeGiorgio, 88

Troy - Nicholas Sebastian DeGiorgio, 88, of Troy, NY passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday morning September 25, 2011.

Born in Troy, NY, he was the son of Sebastian DeGiorgio and Mary Prezio DeGiorgio. At the age of 18, Nick served our country with the US Army, during WWII in the European Theater. Upon his return, he spent many years in public service as Captain for the Troy Police Department, until his retirement.

Nick is survived by his sisters, Filomena (Sam, deceased) Carello, Bette (Marc) Ruggeri, Mary (Ernest, deceased) Trad, and Lucy Karichkowsky and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his companion of 54 years, Louise Kennedy; her son and Nick's godson, Thomas (Lauren) Kennedy MD and Nick's four grandchildren, Taylor, Ryan, Michael and Christopher Kennedy.

Nick was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Sebastian 'Dodo' and Joseph; his sisters Eleanor Daniels, Emilia 'Skippy' Colwell, and Amelia 'Jackie' DeNice.

Funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to thank the care givers from Samaritan Hospital 6^th floor hospice unit and the kindness shown at Van Rensselaer Manor during his brief stay.
