Maureen Patricia Di Prima

Saratoga Springs - Maureen Patricia Di Prima, of Horseshoe Drive died Saturday September 12, 2009 her residence after a brief illness.

Born in Cambridge, MA, she was a daughter of the late Martin Francis Clune and the late Johanna 'Anne' (Culloty) Clune and wife of the late Dr. Richard Clyde Di Prima.

She was a graduate of Belmont High School and Boston University. Maureen spent many years working at the Massachusetts General Hospital, in the Blood Bank and as a research assistant for some of the first studies to link smoking and lung cancer. She also worked for John F. Kennedy in his Senate Campaign of 1952.

In 1954 Maureen married Richard "Dick" Di Prima, while he was a post doctoral student at MIT. In 1957 Dr. Di Prima accepted an invitation to join the Department of Mathematics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute ; they moved to Troy and started their family. In addition to being a wonderful mother and homemaker, she was a member of the Troy Musical Art's Society, the RPI Women's Club and was a RPI Patroon

Survivors include a daughter, Siobhan Gael Dunham and her spouse Dr. Richard of Saratoga Springs; a son, Richard 'Rocky' DiPrima Jr. and his spouse Lenore, of Duxbury, MA; three grandchildren, Charles and Aidan Di Prima and Deirdre Dunham; a sister, Kathleen Schaeffer of Franklin, MA; several nieces and nephews, Maura Jobin, Anne 'Bonnie' Heffel, Sheila Giordano, Walter Patrick Hays, Deborah Johnston, Janice Niblett and Roy Mitchell. She was predeceased by a niece, Jacqueline Robertson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday September 17th at 6:30PM at the Christ Sun of Justice RPI Chapel and Cultural Center, Burdett Avenue, Troy with Rev. Gary Gelfenbein and Rev. Edward Kacerguis, Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the CHAPEL on Thursday from 4-6pm prior to the Mass.
