Mary V. Parella

Watervliet - Mary V. Parella, 87, of Harvard Road died Monday, May 9, 2016, at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Rocco Valenti and Clara DelMonico Valenti and wife of the late Joseph A. Parella. She graduated from Troy schools and resided in Troy most of her life, and in Watervliet for the past 10 years. She was a life member of the PTA at Troy Public School 16.   

Mrs. Parella was a senior account executive for Rensselaer County Unified Services for 35 years, retiring in 1991.

She served two years as president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Italian Community Center in Troy, and enjoyed bocce, casinos, traveling in the U.S., Canada and Europe. 

Survivors include a son, Joseph A. (Sandra DiNoto) Parella, Jr., Troy; a daughter, JoAnn (Geoffrey) Pappas, Niskayuna; her grandchildren, Emily (Kenneth) Aponte;  Michael (Marisa) Parella; Gary (Rachel) LaBelle; Marc LaBelle; Zach (Kendal) Pappas and Nikki Pappas; two great grandchildren, Caroline Parella and Alex LaBelle; her siblings, Saverio Valenti, Troy; Judy DiMura, Maplewood; Yolanda Valenti, Colonie; Clorinda (Mrs. Earl) DiVito; Latham; and Ralph (Barbara) Valenti, Troy; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three siblings, Nina Lanzillo, Phyllis Catalano and Oneil Valenti.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.,  276 Pawling Avenue, Troy, on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, from 4-7:00 p.m. 

Funeral service will be Thursday, 9:30 a.m., at the funeral home and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Troy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
