Troy - Martha ‘Jo’ Freeman Fagan, 92, of Burdett Avenue died peacefully on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center after a long illness.
Born in White Deer, TX, she was daughter of the late Clyde Freeman and Thelma Black Freeman and wife of the late William R. Fagan. She was raised in Texas and resided in the Troy area since her marriage in 1949 and was a graduate of Northern Colorado University Greeley, CO.
Jo was a physical education teacher for the Troy School District, teaching at Carroll Hill and Troy High School, retiring in 1982.
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Troy and the Woman’s Club, the Frear Park Woman’s Golf League and currently the Third Presbyterian Church.
Jo was an avid golfer, skier, swimmer and Bridge enthusiast. She enjoyed all things outdoors: golfing on local courses and in tournaments with her good friend, Rhea; skiing on ladies' day with, Terry, Dot, and Patsy; and spending summers on Reichard's Lake with family especially her sister-in-law, Geri, and many nieces and nephews.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Sean Turley) Fagan, Castleton-On-Hudson and Sharon Fagan, Troy; a son, Richard (Vickie) Fagan, Pensacola, FL; a brother, Jack (Beverly) Freeman, San Antonio, TX; her grandchildren, Melissa and Chelsea Turley, Billy Novak, Brian Dunson and Joshua, Justin, Taylor, and Seth Fagan and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Jim Tom Freeman.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Sunday, August 23, 2015 from 4-6 PM.
Funeral service will be held Monday, at 11 AM at the Third Presbyterian Church 113 Winter Street Troy with Rev. John McAuley, Pastor.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
