Marion Martin Whinnery

Marion Martin Whinnery, 89 Troy Marion Martin Whinnery, 89, of Burdett Avenue, died Monday at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a brief illness. Born in East Greenbush, she was daughter of the late Alex and Anna Rawlins Martin and wife of the late Wilbur S. Whinnery. She had retired to Zephyr Hills, Florida, returning to Troy six years ago to the Eddy Apartments and was educated at Troy High School and the Leonard Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Whinnery was registered nurse at Samaritan Hospital in Troy and later Crouse Irving Hospital in Syracuse, retiring in 1968. She was a member of the Brunswick Church and the Leonard Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae and was the last member of the class of 1935. Survivors include a son Douglas R. Whinnery and his wife Sue of Kerrville, TX; a daughter Judith A. Rouse and her husband Henry of Troy; a sister Elizabeth M. Creagan of Troy; two grandchildren Susan B. Mitchelson and husband Randall of Lake Mary, FL and Gregory Scott Rouse and wife Julie of Sarasota, FL and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers Richard and Wilbur Martin and two sisters Mabel E. Burgess and Gertrude M. Bisner. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00pm from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy with Rev. Kate Kotfila, Pastor of the Brunswick Church, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-7PM. Interment Memory's Garden in Colonie. Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Whinnery to the charity of ones choice.
