Marion Tashjian Quiroga, 84

Brunswick - Marion Tashjian Quiroga, 84, passed away Thursday, February 04, 2010. Due to the support of The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, she was able to pass away in her home surrounded by the things she loved, her family and friends.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late John E. Tashjian and Astgig Arpiarian Tashjian and wife of the late Jorge T. Quiroga. She had resided in Troy all her life and was a graduate of Troy High School class of 1945 and attended Russell Sage College.

Mrs.Quiroga was an executive administrative secretary for the Visiting Nurse Association of Troy for 6 years and administrative secretary for the Department of History and Political Science at RPI for 8 years.

Marion was a parishioner of St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church in Watervliet where she participated in the Women's Guild, the Daughters of Vartan and sang in the choir for many years. She was also the President of the Ilium Literary Club at the time of her passing.

She was an accomplished painter (oils) and writer, publishing her mothers memoirs of the Armenian Genocide with her own additional research, entitled The Tragic Years Remembered (1915- 1920). Her oil paintings hang in many homes.

Survivors include her daughter, Leslie Q. Peppin of Troy; her son-in-law, Kim Peppin; three grandchildren, Lora Peppin, Jason (Sandra) Peppin and Philip Peppin; 6 great grandchildren, Vicktoria and Nicollette Leahy, Samantha and Melissa Peppin and Jasmine and Austin Peppin; as well as many dear relatives in NJ, MA and CA. She was predeceased by a brother, Philip Tashjian.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 10am at St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church 100 Troy-Schenectady Road, Watervliet .

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Sunday from 3-7pm.

Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery Menands.
