Troy, NY - Marilyn Willetts Elgie, 83, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Rexford after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Troy, she was daughter of the late Colin Willetts and Marion Knaupp Willetts and wife of the late Dr. John P. Elgie. She summered at Lake St. Catherine in Poultney, VT and wintered at Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Marilyn was a graduate of Emma Willard School and earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Russell Sage College.
Marilyn was a grade 4th, 5th and 6th grade reading teacher for the George Washington School in Brunswick for 33 years, retiring in 1996.
She enjoyed playing bridge with friends in both Florida and Vermont. She valued her time spent with family and friends at Lake St. Catherine.
Survivors include a daughter, Caroline (Stuart) Rudd, Rexford; two grandchildren, Christian and Cole Rudd, both students at LaSalle Institute in Troy.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 6-8 PM with a funeral service at 8 PM with Rev. Gusti Linnea Newquist, officiating.
