Marie Schmidt Landau

Marie Schmidt Landau, 95

Spartanburg, SC Marie Schmidt Landau, 95, of Lori Circle and formerly of Hillside Drive Wynantskill, died Friday at Rose Crest Nursing Home Inman, SC after a long illness.

Born in Neulussheim bei Mannheim, Germany, she was daughter of the late Friedrich and Anna Kuppinger Schmidt and wife of the late Ludwig Landau. She had resided in Germany until 1920, then came to this country to the Troy area and moved to South Carolina to live with her daughter when he husband Ludwig died in 1997.

Mrs. Landau was a homemaker and loving mother and wife.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Troy and later Faith Lutheran Church, Albany Medical Center Women's Auxiliary and the Germania Hall Association and Damen Verein.

Survivors include a daughter Elsie Landau Finkelstein of Spartanburg, SC; a sister Anna Schaust of Neulussheim Germany; a grandson Grant Landau Hart of Louisville, KY and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Friday at 10:00am at Memory's Garden in Colonie with Rev. Stephen L. Cordes, Pastor of the Faith Lutheran Church, officiating. Those wishing to attend are invited to meet at 9:45am inside the main gate. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Landau to Faith Lutheran Church 50 Leversee Road Troy, NY 12182.
