East Greenbush - Marian Couchot Safford (1917-2018) passed away peacefully on April 28, 2018, at the young age of 101 at Hawthorne Ridge, her home for the last few years.
Born in Cohoes, N.Y., Marian was the daughter of the late Lawrence E. Couchot and Lillian Clark Couchot, and wife of the late M. Alfred (Sandy) Safford. She was raised in Cohoes, and resided in Troy, Pittsburgh and for 58 years in Loudonville, N.Y.
Marian was a graduate of Troy Business College and she was a homemaker and a secretary for Wallace & Tiernan Engineering many years ago. She had a passion for the outdoors and particularly enjoyed her snow skiing years with her husband and their friends, gardening, playing Bridge and spending time with her nephews, nieces and fur babies cats and dogs.
Survivors include her sister Martha Couchot Leckonby, of Averill Park, sister in law Janet Couchot of Clayton, CA, three nephews and four nieces, several grandnieces and grandnephews and Marian’s and Sandy’s longtime dear friend and ski buddy, Albert Soria. She was predeceased by her brothers Richard and Lawrence Couchot.
A memorial service will be held on June 2, 2018 at 11AM at the Gardner Earl Chapel 186 Oakwood Avenue Troy with Rev. Stephen Schlossberg, Rector of St. John's Episcopal Church in Troy, officiating.
