Marguerite (Maggie) Therese Kelly, 83

Niskayuna - On May 20, 2009, our loving and beloved Maggie, 83, peacefully and gracefully slipped from the embrace of her family into God's waiting arms at her daughter's home on Clute Crest Drive, Niskayuna, after a brief illness.

Born in Cohoes, she was daughter of the late Joseph Chartier and Rose DeLima Courtois Chartier and wife of the late Robert W. Kelly. She was born and raised in Cohoes and was a 1944 graduate of Catholic Central High School. She resided in Averill Park and West Sand Lake from 1950 until moving to Branson Manor in Rensselaer in 2005. Maggie was a full time wife and mother until being widowed in 1961 at age 35; she then worked as a computer operator for Verizon for over 20 years, retiring in 1982.

She was a communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park and a member of New York Telephone Pioneers. She enjoyed playing bingo, reading, traveling and the company of her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons and daughters; Christine (William) Williams of Niskayuna, Karen Kelly of Troy, Michael Kelly of Troy, Mary (Robert) Francis of Waterford, Peter Kelly of West Sand Lake, Marguerite R. Kelly of Earlton and Lawrence Kelly of Troy as well as 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Thomas Kelly and Robert Kelly; three sisters, Jeanne Reittinger, Helen Bomboy and Katherine Houle, and her beloved dog, Emily.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150, West Sand Lake and at 10:30 AM at St. Henry's Church Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John Provost, Pastor.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 from 4 -7 PM.

Interment will be in St. Henry's Cemetery Averill Park.

The family requests that those wishing to remember Maggie in a special way contribute in her name to The Community Hospice of Schenectady County, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.
