MARGERY LADD EADIE


DeFreestville -- Margery May Ladd Eadie, 92, died Wed., Dec.31, 2008 at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, NY. Daughter of Robert Mark and Ethyl Goodwin Ladd, she was born on April 13, 1916 in Rochelle, IL, and grew up in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She was a graduate of Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and was married in 1940 to the late Gordon A. Eadie, M.D., Rensselaer County Health Commissioner (1969-1975). They spent 26 yrs. in the Detroit area before moving to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She was a Registered Nurse in psychiatry in MD, MI, and NY. While in MI she was active in nursing, Cub Scouting, Treasurer of Michigan League of Women Voters, Moral Re-Armament, and church work.

A psychiatric nurse at Samaritan Hospital, she was active at 1st United Presbyterian Church, Troy, and Treasurer of the NY League of Women Voters while living in N. Greenbush. In Auburn, NY she was active in the 1st Presbyterian Church and was chosen Sr. Citizen of the Year for Cayuga Co. for her work establishing and coordinating the Alzheimer's and Related Dementia Disorders bi-weekly support group for people dealing with dementia in the family.

Margery was the mother of three sons, R. Frank (Bonnie) of NYC, John L. (Betsy Belle) of DeFreestville, and Thomas G. (Barbara) of Victoria, B.C., Canada, and grandmother of James (Christina), M.D., Christina (Jeff), M.D., Lauren (Jordan), Mark, Johanna, John G., Colin, and Gwen (Aaron), and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Garrett.

She has donated her body to Albany Medical College for research. A Memorial Service will be held at 1st United Presbyterian Church, 1915 5th Ave., Troy, NY 12180 at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Central NY Chapter, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
