Margarete (Schramm) Betzwieser

Troy - Margarete Schramm Betzwieser, 97, of Blooming Grove Drive died Monday October 3, 2016, at Van Rensselaer Manor. 

Born in Hermannsberg, Bavaria, Germany, she was daughter of the late Ludwig Schramm and Anna  Hoffmann Schramm and wife of Joseph E. Betzwieser.   She was educated in Germany  and came to the United States to Troy in 1953.
 
Mrs. Betzwieser was a homemaker, loving mother and caring friend. 
 
She was a 50 year member of the Germania Hall Association and a member of the Damen Verein vocal group.  She and her husband were delegates for the singing group of  Germania Hall, traveling to many cities, and many years ago was an active volunteer of the Lansingburgh Boys and Girls Club.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, canning and gardening.   
 
Survivors in addition to her husband include a daughter, Christa H. (Robert) Owen, Durham, CA; two sons, Albert J. (Diane). Betzwieser, Rexford and Gerhard Betzwieser, Wynantskill; her grandchildren, Peter Owen, Patricia Owen Woody, Robert J. Owen and Joseph and Albert Betzwieser; her great grandchildren, Gabriel, Sophia, Kaiden and Landon Owen, Lucas Woody and Arabelle Betzwieser; a sister - Josefa Osborn, MD; two brothers, Ferdinand Schramm, Germany and Ludwig (Christa) Schramm, Germany and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughter, Ursula Betzwieser and three sisters, Marie Brautigam, Rosa Reck and Klara Lorz
 
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 4-7PM.
 
Funeral service will be held Friday at 10AM at the  funeral home and 10:30AM at Sacred Heart Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
 
Interment will be in  St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
