Margaret Ann 'Peggy' Matthews, 85

Troy Margaret Ann 'Peggy' Matthews, 85, formerly of Myrtle Avenue and Locust Avenue Troy, died Thursday, May 12, 2005 at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy after a long illness.

Born in San Antonio, TX, she was the daughter of the late George Matthews and the late Lily (Fullerton) Matthews.

She had resided in the Troy area most of her life and was educated at Troy High School and Russell Sage College.

Peggy was a secretary at Borden's Ice Cream in Menands for several years retiring in 1983. She later worked for the Troy Public Library.

She was a member of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in Troy and a Staff Sergeant in the Women's Army Corp during World War II.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Peter Matthews, Leslie Brandeis, Sue Ellen Clarke, Darcy Clarke, Daniel Willetts, Christopher Willetts and Debra Douglas all of FL. She was predeceased by her brother, William Matthews and her sister, Mary Lou Willetts.

Funeral service will be private. Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy. Contributions may be made in memory of Peggy Matthews to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Boulevard Rensselaer, NY 12144.
