Marcello A. Ruggeri

March 20, 1927 ~ February 16, 2016 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Troy - Marcello ‘Marc’ A. Ruggeri, 88, of Desson Avenue died Tuesday, February 16, 2016 after a long illness.

Born in Rochester, he was son of the late Segundo ‘Sam’ Ruggeri and Josephine Delollo Ruggeri and husband for 66 years of Bette DeGiorgio Ruggeri. He had resided in Troy for 65 years and was a graduate of the Alfred Edison Tech High School in Rochester and Automotive Mechanical Engineering at Hudson Valley Community College. 

Mr. Ruggeri was a fundraiser for the New York State Police PBA for many years. He previously owned and operated an auto repair business, specializing in foreign car transmissions.  He also taught in the automotive department at Hudson Valley Community College, instrumental in developing the first automotive transmission curriculum and was a recruiter for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute MBA program.  

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Latham, Toastmasters, American Automobile Dealers Association, New York State Police PBA and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.  Marc was a Navy veteran of World War II. 

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Marc A. Ruggeri, Jr., Schaghticoke; a daughter, Beth Ruggeri, Cohoes; his grandchildren, Jessica (Andrew) Hogue, Michael (Lorena)Ruggeri and Timothy (Sabrina) Andren; a sister-in-law, Peg Ruggeri, Cape Cod and several great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Christopher 'Buddy' Ruggeri and a sister, Dolly (Tom) Colombo.

Funeral service will be held Monday, February 22, 2016 at 11:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church 475 Pawling Avenue Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum Troy.

The family wishes to extend gratitude to all Marc’s doctors and caregivers.
