Louise A. Ferris

Troy - Louise A. Ferris passed away unexpectedly at her home on September 7, 2007. She was born in Schenectady to a Russian mother and an Italian father. The diverse cultural influences of her early years served her well throughout life.

Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore Mauriello and Elda (McClowsky) Mauriello and wife of the late Albert Joseph Ferris Sr.

She was a devoted wife, homemaker and parent. She was an excellent cook and prepared many a holiday feast. She had mastered the preparation of Italian and Lebanese cuisine. Always an avid reader, she learned from her vast collection of cookbooks and was willing to experiment.

Louise worked for many years providing care for the elderly. She devoted herself to her tasks with good humor, compassion and genuine concern for others. These traits extended beyond her work. Throughout her life, she was a source of strength and care for family and friends.

She greatly enjoyed discussing political and social issues. She was a tenacious debater and very well informed. She would answer contrary positions with solid common sense.

With her passing, a kind and strong soul went to a new home. Those who loved her hope, pray and believe that she will find peace there. She will be missed.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen G. (MaryLu) Ferris of Schenectady and Albert Joseph Ferris of Troy and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers, Mary Chmielewski, Anna Mauriello, Anthony Mauriello, Angeline Gross and Salvatore J. Mauriello.
