Louise R. Harrat (Merchant) Ashley

West Sand Lake - Louise R. Harrat Ashley, 92, of Ashley Way Rt 150 died Saturday, October 22, 2016, at her residence after a long illness.

Born September 10, 1924 in Whitehall, NY, she was daughter of the late Raymond Merchant and Mary E. Whalen Merchant and wife for 41 years of  Lyman Ashley. She had resided in West Sand Lake for 41 years. 

Louise was a homemaker and an active member of the West Sand Lake Volunteer Fire Company and the Ladies Auxiliary serving as Vice President and 12 years as Historian and Sgt. at Arms.    

Survivors in addition to her husband include her children, Mary E. (Sandee) Hug, FL,  A. Donald Harrat, Troy, J. Diane (Jerry Stanley) Crowley, White River Junction, VT, Richard R. (Cindy) Harrat, West Sand Lake and Barbara J. Myrick, FL; a stepson, Gary Edward (Terri) Ashley, West Sand Lake; her siblings, Charles Merchant, Cleveland, OH and Jack Merchant, Sacramento, CA and Monica Kilgallon, Troy; sisters- in-laws, Beverly Merchant, FL and Eva (Clyde) Thompson, Messena, NY; a special daughter-in-law, Cynthia R. Harrat and numerous  grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her step children, Kenneth, John, and Stephen Ashley and three sisters,  Rita Merchant, Helen Nelson and Marie Prothero and a brother, Eugene Merchant. 

Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake on Monday, October 24, 2016 from 4-7 PM with a services to follow as 7 PM with Rev. Trygve Tomlinson, officiating.

Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in West Sand Lake.
