Lois Sarah Fletcher Collier, 84

Watervliet Lois Sarah Fletcher Collier, 84, entered into eternal rest peacefully Saturday, July 27, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital, Hospice, in Troy.

Born in Troy on November 2, 1917, Mrs. Collier was the daughter of Arthur M and Katharine Fletcher. She graduated from Troy High School, married on August 13,1937, spent the first years of her married life on Long Island and settled in Watervliet in 1945 for the remainder of her life. She was a kind, gentle woman devoted to caring for her family She was a longtime member of Jermain Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Women's Association and taught Sunday School for several years.

Mrs. Collier was also a lifelong member of the Eastern Star. She loved traveling to Maine and spending time with family and friends at their summer home in Pottersville in the Adirondacks.

Mrs Collier is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Henry Collier of Watervliet, her daughter, Carole Ann Akots of Albany; daughter, Barbara Lynn Walton of Schenectady; son, Richard Arthur Collier of Latham; grandchildren John Karl Akots and Keith Robert Akots of Wynantskill; and Michael David Walton of Schenectady; great grandchildren, Hannah Margaret Akots and Madison Kayla Akots of Wynantskill. In the last days of her life, Mrs. Collier spoke fondly of her friendship with Edith Teal, a beloved childhood friend.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning at 11:00a.m. at the Bryce Funeral Home, corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5- 8 p.m. on Monday. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy on Tuesday.
