Leon Joseph Cylkoff, 71

West Sand Lake - Leon Joseph Cylkoff, 71, of Route 43 West Sand Lake died Tuesday, January 05, 2010, at his residence after a long illness.

Born in Warsaw, Poland, he was son of the late Bruno Cylkowski and Hedwig Marciniak Cylkowski and husband for 46 years of Sharon L. Kimmey Cylkoff. He came to the United States through Ellis Island as a child and resided on Burden Lake Road prior to moving to Route 43, forty years ago and he attended Averill Park High School.

Mr. Cylkoff was employed as head custodian for the Averill Park School District for many years retiring over 15 years ago. He later worked for 10 years at Hannaford Market in Wynantskill for 10 years.

He was a member of the Rebecca Lodge IOOF #92, Sand Lake Historical Society, Knights of Columbus Troy and Schodack Senior Center. He was on several bowling leagues, enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing and loved his children, grandchildren and mother-in-law.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Tonya Kim (Jerry) Simon of Melrose; a son, Todd Joseph (Marla) Cylkoff of Averill Park; his grandchildren, Krystal Lynn Simon and Marissa Marie, Brier Marie and Tucker Joseph Cylkoff and his mother-in-law, Phyllis (Polly) Kimmey of West Sand Lake.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Sand Lake Baptist Church 2960 NY Route 43, Averill Park with Rev. Dr. Mihran G. Kupeyan, Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the CHURCH on Saturday from 9-11 AM prior to the service.

Interment will be in Memory's Garden Colonie.
